Similar clear pale colour, bit. Light yet pleasing reduction on the nose. Fresh apple too. Then it opens out beautifully, peaches but not too exotic, very charming, citrus at the back! Salinity to finish. 

Clear pale colour. A light but tense and relatively citrus bouquet. Despite the lean start there is a gorgeous volume of rich pure white fruit, showing really well, with a perfect fruit acid balance.

Mid lemon yellow, one of the more exotic noses. This continues on the palate but with an excellent thread of acidity. Still some floral notes all round and very good length. Leaves a very attractive aftertaste but I prefer the classicism of Champgains.

1 x 350 litre and 1 x 228 litre barrel. A little more colour and definitely a richer, most complete bouquet. Then with air this superb La Romanée becomes more crystalline. A thing of beauty on the palate, fresh granny smith yet fully ripe, an exceptional persistence. “It cant really be called thin, can it”, says Thierry with a grin. 

1 x 350 litre and 1 x 228 litre barrel. Not reduced but the wood shows more. Time in the glass and the fruit comes out, a certain menthol, white fruit and racy oak, excellent acid balance, very long pure white fruit. An electric thread once again.

2 x 350 litre barrels, which have been racked. Pale colour. Clear chiselled and beautiful all the way through. You cannot taste this and think of a difficult or minor vintage. This really fulfils Thierry's suggestion of an electric vintage. Very persistent.

1 x 350 litre barrel, untouched. It will be bottled directly from the cask in due course. The bouquet takes us back to the greater reduction of some earlier cuvées, though now the citrus and greengage start to come out. Has not quite taken up the volume of some but it is growing steadily to the back. Perfumed yet with energy.

Forêts was badly frosted unfortunately. Pale lemon and lime. The bouquet is more closed here, wants to be mineral but currently reticent. But it has a fine thread of citrus lined stoniness across the palate. Not massive but nicely poised.
