We tasted at Domaine Jean Michel Gaunoux last September and we loved the wines, precise, mineral driven with some great Meursault fruit. Love these.
Don’t miss the aged magnums we were able to pry from their cellars!
Jean-Michel Gaunoux's family has been rooted in the Cote d'Or for several centuries. He cultivates three Premier Cru sites within Meursault: Perrieres, Genevrieres, and Les Gouttes d'Or. With six hectares (14.5 acres) in the villages of Meursault, Pommard, Puligny-Montrachet, and Volnay, Jean-Michel worked with his father, Francois Gaunoux, of Domaine Francois Gaunoux, until establishing Domaine Jean-Michel Gaunoux in 1990.
Jean-Michel practices green harvesting for low yields and works the soil without pesticides. Via traditional vinification methods, Gaunoux’s wines see 15-30% new oak and are bottled after 15-16 months; they are neither filtered nor fined, and their aging potential is outstanding
