The 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chenevottes opens in the glass with notes of honeyed pear, white flowers, freshly baked bread and beeswax. Medium to full-bodied, lively and structured, it's taut and chalky, foregrounding this site's shallow, stony soils more than its sunny exposition. (WK)

Unfurling in the glass with gently reductive aromas of apple blossom, white peach and pear, the 2022 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru La Garenne is medium to full-bodied, ample and charming, with a pure, vibrant and enveloping core of fruit underpinned by lively acids, concluding with a mineral finish. The 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Caillerets is concentrated and mineral, offering up aromas of pear, orange zest, hazelnut, white flowers and buttered toast, followed by a medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered palate built around a racy spine of acidity and concluding with a mineral finish. Colin's 2022 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru shows considerable promise, wafting from the glass with aromas of crisp yellow orchard fruit, freshly baked bread, confit citrus, beeswax and hazelnuts. The king of the cellar is the 2022 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru, a deep and multidimensional wine redolent of pear, peach, clear honey, toasted nuts, freshly baked bread and white flowers. Full-bodied, layered and structured, its satiny attack segues into a concentrated mid-palate and a long, saline finish. (WK)

A blend of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc, 10% Merlot and 7% Petit Verdot from this picture-perfect property above Lake Hennessey, Colgin's 2016 IX Estate is a stunning effort. Subtle herbal nuances, including hints of of licorice, intertwine among bunches of black cherries and pencil shavings to form a dusting atop baskets of cassis. Complex and intense, this full-bodied wine is almost creamy in texture, with tannins so fine-grained as to almost be liquid in feel, then becoming silky on the elegant, lingering finish. Wow. (JC)

Deep garnet in color, the 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon is just a little closed and broody to begin, opening out to earthy notes of damp soil, truffles and mossy tree bark over a core of crème de cassis, baked plums and fruitcake plus wafts of tar, dried sage and chargrill. Full-bodied, rich and wonderfully savory in the mouth, it has a rugged frame of chewy tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long and earthy. (LPB)
