2016 Colgin Cellars IX Estate Red, Napa Valley, USA 750ml

A blend of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc, 10% Merlot and 7% Petit Verdot from this picture-perfect property above Lake Hennessey, Colgin's 2016 IX Estate is a stunning effort. Subtle herbal nuances, including hints of of licorice, intertwine among bunches of black cherries and pencil shavings to form a dusting atop baskets of cassis. Complex and intense, this full-bodied wine is almost creamy in texture, with tannins so fine-grained as to almost be liquid in feel, then becoming silky on the elegant, lingering finish. Wow. (JC)

2009 Caymus Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, USA 750ml

Deep garnet in color, the 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon is just a little closed and broody to begin, opening out to earthy notes of damp soil, truffles and mossy tree bark over a core of crème de cassis, baked plums and fruitcake plus wafts of tar, dried sage and chargrill. Full-bodied, rich and wonderfully savory in the mouth, it has a rugged frame of chewy tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long and earthy. (LPB)

2022 Tenuta San Guido 'Guidalberto' Toscana IGT, Tuscany, Italy 750ml

Made with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, the Tenuta San Guido 2022 Guidalberto gives you a good taste of the same DNA that brings us one of Italy's greatest wines, Sassicaia, but it's offered in a more immediate style here (thanks to the addition of the Merlot). This warm vintage opens to medium-dark concentration and very plump aromas that take you immediately to blackberry and blackcurrant sitting out in the sun at your local farmers market.

2010 Chateau Coutet, Sauternes - Barsac, France 750ml

The 2010 Coutet, a blend of 75% Sémillon, 23% Sauvignon Blanc and 2% Muscadelle, is pale lemon-gold in color with a nose that explodes with decadent pineapple, mango and lemon meringue pie notes with touches of acacia honey, candle wax and yuzu. Full-on opulent in the mouth, the palate sings with concentrated citrus and tropical fruit layers, finishing long and honeyed. This has 160 grams per liter of residual sugar. (LPB)

2022 Jean-Marc Vincent Auxey-Duresses Les Hautes, Cote de Beaune, France 750ml

The insider's choice at this address is once again the 2022 Auxey-Duresses Blanc Les Hautés, a brilliant old-vine cuvée from the slopes of Auxey-Duresses, which represent the northeast-facing continuation of Meursault. Unwinding in the glass with aromas of pear, citrus zest, buttery pastry, nutmeg and white flowers, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and multidimensional, with a layered and concentrated core, lively acids and a long, saline finish. (WK)

2022 Domaine Roulot Meursault Les Narvaux, Cote de Beaune, France 750ml

The 2022 Meursault Narvaux seems to have found its place in the range this year. From vines planted north-south, it exhibits notes of pear, crushed mint, blanched almonds, white flowers, orange oil and struck match, followed by a medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered palate that's textural and seamless, concluding with a saline finish. (WK)

2022 Domaine Marquis d'Angerville Taille Pieds, Volnay Premier Cru, France 1.5L

The 2022 Volnay 1er Cru Taillepieds is terrific, unwinding in the glass with aromas of dark berries, cherries and plums mingled with notions of rose petals, sweet soil tones and spices. Medium to full-bodied, deep and elegantly muscular, with a sweet core of fruit and youthfully assertive tannins, it will require but also reward patience. (WK)
