2019 Cascina Morassino Ovello, Barbaresco DOCG, Italy 750ml

This has an earthy nose recalling forest floor, violet, hazelnut and new leather. Extremely tight quite closed at this stage, it doesn't give much away, suggesting pomegranate, sour cherry and star anise alongside firm tannins and racy acidity set against a tannic backbone. It closes on a hazelnut note. It needs time to fully unwind. Drink after 2029. (KO)
