2012 Frederic Esmonin Les Champonnets, Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru, France 750ml

An expressive, ripe and well-layered nose displays pretty red currant, wild raspberry and soft earth nuances. The lush, forward and very rounded medium-bodied flavors possess both good volume and ripe tannins that shape the mildly austere finish that delivers good if not special depth but very fine length on the moderately chewy and rustic finish. Moreover there is very solid underlying material that suggests that more depth is on the way if given time.
