2016 Domaine Chantal Remy Clos de la Roche Grand Cru, Cote de Nuits, France 750ml

The 2016 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru has a glorious and extremely complex bouquet: cranberry, raspberry, crushed stone and rose petal aromas bursting from the glass all with exquisite delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry fruit, gentle grip, and a slight confit note (perhaps from a batch of over-ripe berries?) It retains ample freshness and tension on the finish. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting. Neal Martin Vinous

2013 Domaine du Clos de Tart 'Clos de Tart' Grand Cru Monopole, Cote de Nuits, France 750ml

Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Clos de Tart Grand Cru has a well defined bouquet with fine mineralité, very pure and poised with gorgeous ripe black cherries, strawberry and almost flint-like scents. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, missing a little delineation on the entry but with good structure. There is plenty of ripe sappy red fruit here with firm tannins, linear at present but showing impressive breeding. A vin de garde that will require several years in bottle before it really struts its stuff. Tasted September 2016. Neal Martin

2014 Domaine du Clos de Tart 'Clos de Tart' Grand Cru Monopole, Cote de Nuits, France 1.5L

The 2014 Clos de Tart Grand Cru will contain 40% whole bunch fruit in the final. It was picked from September 17 until September 22. This blend that I tasted included the young vines at the bottom of the vineyard that may or may not be deselected to make a Forge de Tart (the decision will be made next year). It is also the first vintage that does not include old vines at the northwest corner that were pulled up in spring 2014, due to be replanted in four years' time.

2015 Chateau Leoville-Las Cases 'Grand Vin de Leoville', Saint-Julien, France 750ml

The 2015 Léoville-Las Cases has an almost clinical, brilliantly defined bouquet of mineral-rich black fruit, cedar and veins of fresh mint. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannin, beautifully judged acidity, exquisite balance and tangible energy toward the finish of graphite-infused blackberry and a hint of clove. This is one of the appellation’s most sophisticated offerings in 2015. Chapeau, Jean-Hubert Delon. Tasted blind at the Southwold 2015 Bordeaux tasting. July 2019
