2004 Long Shadows Chester Kidder Red, Columbia Valley, USA 750ml

The 2004 Chester Kidder Red Wine is made by Gilles Nicault who is also the winemaker in residence at Long Shadows. It is a blend of 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Syrah, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot. It was aged for 28 months in 90% new, mostly French oak. Opaque purple-colored, it reveals an alluring nose of cedar, leather, pencil lead, espresso, blueberry, and blackberry. Round and ripe on the palate, it borders on opulence while concealing enough tannin to support another 5-7 years of cellaring. The sweet, savory fruit carries through into the lengthy finish. (JM)

2005 Long Shadows 'Feather', Columbia Valley, USA 750ml

The 2005 Feather is a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon cuvee made by Randy Dunn of Napa Valley fame. The wine was sourced from three vineyards and aged for 22 months in 90% new French oak. The nose gives up aromas of toasty oak, scorched earth, Asian spices, black currant, and blackberry. Firm and structured on the palate, there are layers of fruit and enough tannin to evolve for another 4-6 years. (JM)

2004 Chappellet Signature Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, USA 750ml

Floral, black currant, blackberry, graphite, and charcoal scents jump from the glass of the 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Donn Chappellet. Silky-textured with nicely integrated wood, plenty of creme de cassis, licorice, and spring flower characteristics, this full-bodied, opulent Cabernet is broader and denser than the Merlot, but seamlessly constructed. This beauty should drink handsomely for 15 or more years

2009 Henry's Drive Dead Letter Office Shiraz, South Australia 750ml

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2009 Dead Letter Office Shiraz has a really lovely and expressive nose with black fruits, plums, vanilla and oak with an undercurrent of dark chocolate, warm blueberries and spices. Rich and full-bodied, it offers loads of sweet fruit held in place with a medium level of grainy tannins, a crisp acid frame and a long finish. (LPB)

2016 Cayuse Vineyards The Lovers, Walla Walla Valley, USA 750ml

The 2016 The Lovers is a Cabernet Sauvignon blend with 15% Syrah added. The wine has a dense core of red and purple flowers, dusty cherries and currants and savory aromas on the nose. The wine is focused on the palate, turning just slightly tart with black peppercorn and green peppers. The finish shows precision and rich depth that is approachable now and will be for the next decade, thanks to the structured tannins. (AM)
