Heritiere Louis Remy is the name of this historic producer that can trace its antecedents back all the way to 1820.
Heritiere means female inheritor in French. Chantal, who has been running the Estate since 1988, has continued the tradition of making gentle, not overtly powerful wines which nonetheless repay keeping.
A tiny estate of 3.5 hectares, until now, these wines didn't often find their way to the United States, mainly going to Japan, the UK and Continental Europe.
After numerous visits to Burgundy over the last twelve months, and lots of persistence, we convinced Chantal and Florian, her son who is the winemaker to part with 100 cases of aged Burgundy going back to 1988.
These delicious wines come from a great selection of vineyard sites in Chambolle Musigny, VV and 1er Crus, Chambertin, Latricieres and Clos de la Roche and are available by the bottle or by the case.
Highlights include impressive verticals of Latricieres Chambertin and Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru Derriere La Grange going back to 1988.
