Tasting notes

(there is almost no topsoil in this particular parcel and the vines grow into fragmented, heavily fissured rock). Here too the nose suffers from post-bottling reduction so be sure to give it some air if you’re tempted to try a bottle young. More interesting are the round and quite supple mid-palate of the medium-bodied flavors that immediately tighten up on the sappy, intense and mouth coating finish that is markedly dry and impressively persistent. This too is excellent while offering a bit more depth than the Grandes Ruchottes. 93/2028+

Situated in Chassagne-Montrachet in the south of the Cote d'Or, Chateau de la Maltroye has been a family property since 1939. It is easily recognizable by its 18th century, glazed tile roof. The vineyard encompasses over 32 acres in Chassagne-Montrachet and 5 acres in Santenay.
