The Domaine Lafouge 2018 Casse Têtes is also beautiful this year. The bouquet is vibrant and loaded with citrus zest, to go along with notes of apple, pear, hazelnuts, a superb base of chalky soil tones, vanillin oak and a topnote of lime blossoms. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, and really deep at the core, with excellent cut and grip, impressive nascent complexity and a very long, very classy finish. While the Meix Chavaux will charm from the outset, I would opt to give the 2018 Casse Têtes at least a few years in the cellar and let the secondary layering of complexity come to the fore. Great juice. (11/2019)
