The wood treatment is less subtle here and while it doesn't fight with the menthol-inflected red and black cherry, earth and animale-scented aromas, it's close to doing just that. On the plus side there is outstanding power and mid-palate density to the intense and tautly muscular flavors that possess first-rate complexity on the driving and hugely long finish. This is very firm yet there is so much dry extract present that this should not only be able to successfully integrate the oak but may also be approachable after only 7 to 8 years of bottle age.
